Week 2 - Aperture - Research Artists - Francesca Woodman (Camera Use)

Francesca Woodman

Francesca was an American born in April 1958. Both her parents were artists and she moved to New York City to make a career in photography. Things did not go well for her and she became depressed due to the failure of her work and relationship. 

Her photographs are black and while and mainly consist of motion blur and long exposure times. A lot of her photographs are of her self.

Thoughts: There is deep D.O.F in this photograph, you can see all of this image in clear photo so I think she used a small aperture of around F32

Thoughts: It's not clear to me in this photo what aperture is used.

Thoughts: I think this photo is taken with a medium aperture of  around F5,6. The focus is on the background in this photo as to blur the moving subject.

Thoughts: It looks like this is a medium aperture of  f5,6 the focus looks as if it is on her belly area allowing the hand to blur from movement.

Thoughts: It looks like she has used a small aperture as there is a deep D.O.F and everything is in focus I think around about f16,

Thoughts: It looks like this picture has been taken with shallow D.O.F with a large aperture of f 2,8. The focus is on the wall behind her allowing her to blur.
