Week 4 Line and Pattern - Paul Strand - Camera use



Paul Strand


Paul Strand was born on the 16th of October in 1890. Strand was a photographer who help make photography an art form in the 20th century. Most of his photography consists of urban hustle scenes, street portraits and formal abstractions.


Thoughts: The leading lines in this image are the lines in the stairs and also the lines of the railing. The patterns in the stairs and shadows really draw attention to the center of the image.
Thoughts: The leading lines in this image are the wooden dividers and the patters of the white tiles in the wall.
Thoughts: The leading lines in this image are the walls there is lots of repetition in this image making patterns along the wall.
Thoughts: The leading lines in this image are the walls and bricks of the building. The steep angle this photo is taking on really draws you in.
Thoughts: The leading lines in this image are the frame work and wood in this building and also the wooden deck and hills in the top frame of the image. There is a lot of patterns with the windows and wood grain.
Thoughts: The leading lines in this image are the rectangular windows in the wall and the railing and also the shadows of the people.
