Week 2 - Shutter - Research Artists - RICHARD AVEDON (Digital Tech)

Richard Avedon

I tried to recreate the above picture.

Description: First I went and converted it to grey scale I decreased the purple greatly as it gave a more contrasted effect as seen in his work.
Description: Avedons work seems to be shot on plan backgrounds. I attempted to recreate this by using the clone tool and cloning parts of the plain background. It came out quite blocky and cut off parts of the subject. I think I could improve this by increasing the  feathering when cloning near the subject and also shooting on a plan background next time. I need to research and see if there is an easier way to do this.

This is the second image out of the set.

Description: I converted the image to gray scale and decrease the purples to give it a more contrasted look as before.

Description: This time I tried a different way of removing the background. With the adjustment brush I moved exposure, contrast, highlights and shadowing up to maximum and filled in what should be the negative space.

Description: I used the visualise specter tool to see what I had to cover in better detail.
Description: I used the clone tool to cover all the background left over.

Description: Before and after the background is covered.
