Week 4 Texture andpositive/negative space - Yousuf Karsh - camera use

Yousuf Karsh

Yousuf was born on the 23rd of December in 1908. While he was growing up he witnessed the great famine and lost his sister too starvation. Yousuf's photography mainly consists of portraits with studio lights of artists, statesmen, authors, musicians, scientists and other men and woman who were famous. His photos are very elegant and compassionate.

Thoughts: The texture in this photo is in the mans beard. There is barley any negative space in this image just the back of the wall behind the subject.
Thoughts: there is a lot of negative space in this image. The negative space is the background and he black shirt and hat the man is wearing. The positive space in this image is his face. There is a lot of texture in his skin and winkles.
Thoughts: The negative space in this image is the background around the subject and his black shirt. There is a lot of texture in his face and hair.
Thoughts: The is a lot of texture in the woman's hair and in her shit. The negative space in this image is the background.
Thoughts: The texture in this picture is the subjects hair and jumper. The positive space in this image is the subject with the negative space being the background.
Thoughts: The texture in this image is in the mains mustache and hair, also in the wrinkles on his face and hands. The negative space in this image in his black jacket and the black background. The positive space is his face and hands.

  1. You have some catching on your blog Brianna. I'm feeling concerned about the lack of camera exercises and self directed work for Digital Technology 1. I'm expecting great things from you over the coming weekend. :)
Please do post your work so I can give you some feedback on it next week. Remember your final hand in dates are Tuesday 13 September for Camera Use and Wednesday 14 September for Digital Technology 2
